What Kind of Woman Do Successful Men Actually Want?

Hi, everyone. I’m Tim Parker, a very unprofessional editor here to share some equally unprofessional thoughts on sugar relationships. Haha.

Today, I want to talk about this: What kind of woman does a successful man actually want by his side?

Even Going for a Run Takes Practice

Not long ago, a female friend told me something interesting. Yes, you read that right. This conversation started with a female friend.

She’d signed up for a course on how to get along with successful men. And by “successful,” yes, we mean men with money.

She’d always wanted a wealthy man as her partner, and she was willing to put some effort into making that happen. But she wasn’t learning the usual things you might imagine, like flower arranging or cooking.

“So what are you learning?” I asked.

She told me she went running, rode horses, worked out, and played tennis and golf.

None of that is free.

“Don’t you have to work?” I asked.

She gave me a little smile.

“This is my work.”

I didn’t know what to say.

Eventually, I understood. These were ways for her to meet wealthy men and offer emotional companionship, or simply be there in person. How should I put it? A way of spending time together, I guess.

And the lessons got surprisingly specific. Even going for a run had things to learn: how to keep up with his pace, how to pay attention to how he was feeling, how to show that you cared, and how to put him in a good mood.

It wasn’t enough to own running shoes and say, “Oh, I love running too.”

You actually had to keep up.

I mean, if he’s halfway down the trail and you’re still back there catching your breath, you’re not exactly spending time together, are you?

Then there was the part that had nothing to do with fitness. Knowing when to ask how his day went. Knowing when he’d rather talk about anything but his day. Being able to make him laugh, or noticing when he just wanted some quiet company.

Apparently, there was quite a bit more to this than showing up in a cute workout outfit.

The way she explained it, successful men aren’t necessarily spending their free time going to the movies or sitting in coffee shops. As she put it, the coffee they grind and brew at home is better anyway.

When they have a little free time, they’ll often fit in some exercise, even if it’s only a quick workout.

Those are the moments when they want company, she said. When they’re relaxing. Someone who can relax with them and talk about something other than work.

Someone who can come over for a cup of coffee. Or, well… a shower. Haha.

Now, I’m a man, although I wouldn’t qualify as one of the “high-quality men” she had in mind. Still, I have to admit, the kind of companionship she was describing sounded pretty good to me.

As for the conversations that jump straight into PPM—pay per meet—or a monthly allowance: if it’s that easy to agree on a price and get down to business, are you sure you’ve found a real sugar daddy?

He might make less money than you do. Haha.

She had another pretty blunt opinion. In her view, genuinely successful men aren’t going on dating sites to find a one-night stand. But a lot of sugar dating platforms have been used by women looking for quick money, and that’s given the whole scene a bad name.

What Does a Sugar Daddy Actually Want?

Afterward, I asked a single guy I know who’s doing pretty well for himself what he thought.

Here’s what he told me:

“Most of us are looking for a long-term relationship with both an emotional and a physical connection. We want to see our sugar baby regularly and spoil her.

“Despite what you see in those TikTok videos about sugar daddies, we’re not looking for a platonic friendship. And we’re not just paying for company because we’re lonely.

“A lot of us want to date out of our league, too. So if you’re really attractive or younger than we are, that certainly helps.”

My own very unprofessional take?

If you want to start a sugar relationship, you could try learning how to get along with wealthy men, too. Knowing how to make someone feel cared for, understood, and happy to have you around is a skill. You can get better at it.

Or put that effort into making your own money. Become successful yourself, and let someone else figure out how to keep you happy. Haha.

And if neither of those sounds like your thing, well, go fall in love, get married, and enjoy your life.

Whether you’re a sugar daddy or a sugar baby, you have a real life of your own first. This relationship is one part of it, something that makes life a little more enjoyable.

Not a straight-up transaction.

These are just the personal opinions of one very unprofessional editor. Take them for what they’re worth—not as expert advice.
